Svansele Farm – History

The accommodation is located in a Swedish farmhouse from the 19th century and was from built so-called “Nybyggaren” (settler) between 1850 and 1900. These people were promoted by the Swedish state so that the countryside could be repopulated and the cities freed from overpopulation.

The first to settle in Svansele came from Hillsand and Vedjeön. The family lived in Vedjeön until 1832 when they moved to Svansele as settlers.
The family consisted of parents, two children and the wife’s three children in a previous marriage.
Their application for permission to build a new building at Svansele was submitted in 1835.
